Ironic. Citizens from Rust Belt states all voted for PET. It's people like him who buy outside the US that caused it. PET. Villain hero?

Rust Belt States

Those states in economic decline with population loss and urban decay. Used to be booming industrial sectors but greed by the business owners drove them out of business. Doing business cheaper became the focus. PET buys cheaper oversees. Lotsa stuff. He and all the cheapskates who stopped buying/supporting US industries caused it . Now the cheapskate says he will bring it all back to the US. HOW? Will PET STOP BUYING things not made in America? Pay MORE for something he can get for less abroad? Seriously folks. Who is gonna believe that crap? The folks who voted for him clearly do. Do you?

One word is the reason Clinton lost those states.
    NAFTA

People have watched their jobs go overseas/across the border for years and have been told by BOTH parties that it was just the way it is and you are going to have to deal with it.

I think you should do some research on this issue m2c. The decline began in the 1950's and accelerated in the 70's. Steel mills closed. NAFTA was signed January 1994 long after towns died from industrial plant closures. It's convenient to blame it on a Dem and NAFTA but  it isn't factual. You are a fair person. Just Google RUST BELT DECLINE and read about it. Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday.

Yes they started declining in the 1950s after WWII.
But that is not all of the jobs that left....
Maybe you should do some more research yourself.

This is from PBS in 2007.

If you listen to some corporate lobbyists and Beltway pundits, you’d think that only blue-collar workers without college degrees working in a Rust Belt factory should be concerned about NAFTA-style trade agreements. Not so.

You don't start your article out like that if NAFTA did not have a huge effect on that region.

Corporate greed is why America lost its manufacturing base. No one to blame but US.

Also blame the greedy unions by sucking all they can out of manufacturers.

  • Good job the residents of Bhopal didn't have unions to 'suck all they can out of manufacturers', or God only knows how bad their predicament might have been, eh?
