Of course some/many are cheering and joyful and celebratory and ecstatic and walking on clouds. This is exactly what they hoped would happen and it has and is and will continue to do so. Ya can't please everyone. Right?
Uh, we do spend about half of our time in darkness. It's called 'night'. It gets fairly dark. Makes for good sleeping. However, as you mentioned, a portion of the population likes to revel in the darkness. But when the rooster crows at the first light, we regain a new vision of the light.
