Ever hear of a car curing itself? Ours did. What mysterious experience have you had with YOUR car?

Monday on the way home  our car died every time we came to a stop. It wouldn't idle. The engine light was on. So Jim figured out a way to keep the rpm above 1000 by a combination of giving it gas and using the brake when we had to come to a stop.  25 miles he drove like that. Next day he took it in to  AAMCO for a diagnosis. It had something to do with the air intake valve. They didn't have time to fix it till Wednesday. BUT on Wednesday when Jim started the car up the engine light was off and the car was idling just fine. No problem. He drove around town doing different errands and the car is just fine. Ever have an experience like that? What in the heck happened I wonder?

  • Something could have been gunked up in the fuel injection and /or air intake and just cleaned itself out.  It's possible.  It's likely though the problem will come back too.  Running "fine" might be relative too,  your car may not be running at peak power and efficiency either.
