    I've noticed that, too, lately.
    But being the base person I am so often, in my head I find it makes an attractive man jump to the "hot" category often when he wears them I don't know why.

    I'm falling to the capitalistic merchandising agenda of thick rimmed glasses most likely. And I'm only half-joking.

    Yes. They used to be "nerd" glasses or "BC" (birth control) glasses when issued by the army.

    With cheap plastic you need thicker rims to make them sturdy enough to wear. It also lower the price so parents tend to buy such glasses for their kids.
