  • To educate others? If you use reason, debate and logic then perhaps others can see the light? I know it's a thankless task as many times they don't want to be educated or understand why they inspire such negativity and hatred, and often, sadly, they don't want to become better people...  but hey, some might and everyone's worth enlightening surely :P

That's not what I've experienced DdbTD! What I get is attacked for daring to ask a question. I don't get a calm, reasoned, responsible reply with facts and information I can use. It is of no value to me at all. That happens often with "the usual suspects". They have no info to share only a dislike for what I ask and so they come at it to attack/discredit. A waste of my time and theirs but they apparently cannot help it. Why I don't know. Thank you for your reply  DdbTD! :)

  • Ahhh well I see the source of your problem... these people you mention, they actually DON'T have a keen intellect! They only *think* they do, and as their responses lack actual ability to debate, reason and discuss - that kinda proves they don't. Soooo my point is that these people may be dismissed as inconsequential. Their opinions don't count because they have no basis for their opinions other than indoctrinated rubbish.. More to the point their little brains must be very, very teeny tiny as they can only hate and spout hatred.. so... why would you care what they think?

((hugs)) Okey dokey sweetie! I like that a lot! Very much a whole lot! Thank you for your thoughtful reply. You actually make me feel a whole lot  better! That's a really good thing since lately I've been feeling so awful. But you give me hope!  Also I'm giggling as I'm writing this. You do know how to phrase things perfectly! Thanks again my friend! :)(

  • Two answers from me on this one... we probably should still engage with something/someone we hate because it would seem wussy and unambitious to only ever talk to people who agree with everything we say? Besides, it gives our debating skills a good work out :P

If you enjoy that kind of thing then go for it. I don't. I like sincere, peaceful, civil, fact-based disagreement. Anything else is a waste of my time and I usually get the anything else which I ignore. Thank you for your additional reply m'dear! :)

  • Ahh I never said I enjoy it.  Those of us, you and I etc, who DO have a keen intellect enjoy debate and discussion, and it's frustrating when you get someone who has no interest or ability to debate and just turns every question into insults and personal attacks.. but as I have said previously, these people are to be pitied, for their demonstrated lack of intellect.

Thank you for the compliment sweetie! Seriously. "Keen intellect"? Moi? Merci mille fois! Once again you  made your point perfectly DdbTD and there is no wiggle room to refute any of it! What can I say? I'm a fan! Thank you! :) ((hugs))

Two participants so far and you two have pretty well covered all the bases

I am occasionally coming by this site, but I primarily still go to Blurtit.com first and then here---partially because I'm not totally used to the format here.

As DaydreambelieverTrumpDisbeliever said, "To educate others"----which I might tweak only slightly to suggest that we can provide other arguments or outlooks that the average busy person may not have had time to get exposure to.

The ad hominems that arise from those who attack (you) "daring to ask a question" are simply the chafe that usually comes along with the wheat.

    Anyway, soldier on---definitely.
