A none-hit wonder

What is the greatest song or popular music track that "never made it"? Why do you think that happened (or didn't happen)?

  • Old song by a decent group but never really was popular. I guess different strokes for different folks!

  • It was the group's second top-10 hit, reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in August 1966 and No. 2 on the Canadian RPM Magazine charts. It was certified gold by the RIAA on August 11, 1966. ... (unless this question is about songs that didn't make it to #1.)

By the way ... I like it too. https://youtu.be/xITjHdKASxs This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at January 23, 2017 5:56 AM MST

I don't know if it's the greatest but I've always liked

Dakota Motor Co.'s "Trip to Pain"

~ perhaps (and I think I'm correct but I might be wrong) because they were a Christian-based rock group and their song didn't reach out beyond that particular music circuit. But I remember hearing it first on VH-1 music channel, a broad-appeal type of channel.
The entire "welcome race fans" album is very good to my ears and this song holds up great!
