I'll listen to most anything but my favorites are country and rock. Artists like Reba McEntire and Darius Rucker and artists like AC/DC and Three Doors Down are awesome! Darius Rucker is my favorite though!
Back in 1963 I was working night shift for Qantas. The pop music radio station we listened to was owned by the Catholic Church and when the Pope died that year they broadcast a week of "mournful" music. Classics! It was wonderful and I've enjoyed all manner of fine music ever since. I gotta confess that I can't handle Bach's fugues and a lot of chamber music leaves me looking for a way to escape, but I enjoy almost everything else. And you're right -- it doesn't need words. In fact, Wagner might have had even more appeal if he'd stuck to the music alone. Fortunately, since I don't understand German, I can enjoy the voices as well. :)
It started off being called "New Age," but now I think they are calling it "World." I'm pretty versatile though, when it comes to music, although I listen to more instrumentals than anything else. Instrumentals don't tempt you to get involved with the lyrics, so I find them more relaxing.
