  • I went on a cruise once..... It's dumb. Was mostly to Mexico but that's not the point. To very structured and to many rules on my time. That not nice have rules on a vacation and I would not recommend cruise cos you only have a little window and its dumb .... Rules.

  • They don't appeal to me but my son and his family have been on quite a few. They love them.

  • I've been on two cruises, one tropical (Caribbean) and one in the Mediterranean. I liked the Mediterranean one better because it was a smaller affair and seemed a little less "rowdy". It would have to be a warm-weather cruise for me, though, wherever I go.

  • I hadn't tnought of the Med but, yeah, that'd be a reat option. Vastly different cultures at each port.

I've been on a cruise, but I was so sea sick, I was miserable. It was fun when I was awake, but it was terrible at night. My stomach seemed to be rocking when I tried to go to sleep. I took pills for it, but they didn't work very well. I survived and enjoyed getting to land to enjoy the rest of the trip.

  • That'd be so disappointing. I went out to the Great Barrier Reef one time -- well, a couple of times, really -- but this day the sea was so rough that a couple of people started to get seasick before we cleared the harbour. They advised us to stay on deck and keep our eyes osn the horizon to counter the rocking motion. Worked like a charm and we had a good time.

  • That'd be enough cruising. I wanted to join the navy as a teen but, at that time, I had to get a parental signature if under 21. By the time I reached 21 I had met Mrs Didge and no longer wanted to go to sea.

No, but I am working on a decision on a river cruise.  We have to book by 1-31 to get the good price.  It's an eight day cruise on the Rhine from Basel to Amsterdam. This post was edited by Thriftymaid at January 27, 2017 3:56 AM MST

  • What a great idea. I hadn't thought of a river cruise. that one would be great through so much European history.

  • Those onion domes are very beautiful. As a matter of fact, while you were posting that I was trying to learn to pronounce a very rude Russian phrase to try out on my next telephone scammer.

  • You and I think alike. Here's a not-so-rude one you can try
Ты собака which is pronounced, I think, Tvo sobaka and means, "You are a dog."

I tried some of the ruder ones but had trouble getting my tongue around them. I must find a better site than Google translate.

I won't go on any sea cruise as I get seasick. Meh. And Jaimie is right, too organised. I want to make a stop if I find something interesting and not live by the schedule of someone else.

  • It looks horrible.  I've had my sea-legs since I was a child so I never really gotten sea sick.  I get a similar experience from rollercoasters and hate them because of it.
