What does this image mean?

  • Honestly?

Not much.   It's not that I'm not for the intended cause.  It's just that it's lazy and not nearly as poignant, deep, or expressive as many people probably want to pretend it is. It's impotent to me. Hipster slacktivism art done in the tired and boring Shepard Fairey style.

This is a protest poster, created by contemporary artist/activist Shepard Fairey, one of three images of women from   the minorities that Trump has been targeting to blame the problems on the country on. This one represents the Muslims. The other two are the Mexicans and the African Americans.

  • Thanks, Marguerite. I'd seen the Islamic pic but not the other two. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at January 31, 2017 12:42 PM MST

It was interesting until you made a false statement.

Posters are used in protest marches. Shepard Fairey's postures were seen all over the world in the Women's Marches.

To me it means that you can be a praciticing Muslim and an American at the same time.  They are not mutually exclusive. This post was edited by SpunkySenior at January 31, 2017 4:34 PM MST

Well it appears to be an Italian woman with an American flag tied on her head in the form of a hijab.  The hijab is religious garb so it being a flag would have to be offensive to Muslim women.  It means an artist was confused.
