Imagine if you can a time when people showed respect/deference/affection for the opposition? Once upon a time long ago it was so. How?

The only time I have heard of was the armored knights period of English history, and I am told that something about that certain portion of England just feels like that is a normal way to live.

Other than that, no such feeling ever existed.
