i can read poems over and over and see favorite movies over and over but I don't read books over and over. You too? Why?

Once I know the ending there is no mystery. With poems it is the beauty of the words themselves and what they convey that is pleasing. One never tires of that. Similarly with movies even if you know how it ends the characters themselves are multilayered and each time you see the movie you notice something else. How many times have YOU read favorite books?

There are too many books I haven't read to re-read anything I already did.  I'm not much of a movie person, so re-watching a movie that I already know the end, seems pointless.

We are totally different in that regard Spunky. I have lost count of all the times I have seen and enjoyed "An American in Paris" with Gene Kelly..."Casablanca" with my favorite actor Bogie... "Singing in the Rain"..."The Wizard of Oz"... "Yankee Doodle Dandy" with James Cagney. They make me happy. They pull me in and take me away from today and now and the present and reality. They NEVER disappoint. Life does. Thank you for your reply Spunky and Happy Thursday! Well he**'s bells we can't agree on everything! How much fun is that? :(

I'm happy to know that you find those movies uplifting and a positive part of your life.  No, we can't always agree, but I think on the important things we do.  Happy Thursday - my office closed today because of the nor'easter.  :)

I wish I could give you my mind for an hour so you could see what attention overload disorder is all about.  It is the reason I don't care for reading.

Condolences Star. That is a condition that must be very unpleasant.  Thank you for filling me in on what can happen to someone from simply reading. I can't be sympathetic if I don't know and now I do thanks to you.  Happy Thursday! :) I have never heard of "attention overload disorder" but it sounds scary. Is it ? I don't read poems.  I watch favorite movies over and over and read books I really enjoyed, over again.

  • I have some favourites I enjoy re-reading. The great thing about geezerhood is that if I read something todya I'll have forgotten it by Sunday.
