Don't people do better if they know they are being watched/monitered/viewed/filmed? What is the power of knowing that Big Brother is watching/listening to everything you say/do? Would crime drop significantly?
How does having a list stop gun violence? I would like to know of these homicides, how many were legally possessed firearms? And how many are gang related?
You didn't answer the question I asked. You are asking questions. That is very rude. I have no idea why you responded since you are of no help at all. Why I don't know. If you are that interested GOOGLE " 2016 American Gun Homicides".
No, I don't think there would be a significant drop in deaths if there were a nationwide registry.
Lawful people don't go around shooting & killing others purposefully. It's the ones that consistently break the laws that commit the majority of murder by gun here in the U.S. Big Brother doesn't have any bearing on their actions. If they feel someone may be watching, many take pains to hide their faces while committing crimes. If they are repeat offenders (as many are) they get their guns illegally. Even if we managed to round up all the stolen and illegally purchased firearms here, people can still make home made guns and now it's even easier with 3-D printing technology. Although I can't find anything that confirms 11,000 people were killed in 2016 by gun homicides I guess it doesn't really matter. When you are talking about a national registry deterring people, it isn't going to have any effect on the willful criminals, the accidental shootings, suicides, police shootings, & first time shooters who have mental disorders or home grown terrorists like the two boys at Columbine, the man who shot those Amish children at their school, Adam Lanza in the Newtown shootings, or the Orlando nightclub shooter.
Better background checks might help. But it still won't keep the guns out of the hands of criminals. Laws are only followed by honest people. Crooks will always do what they want.
