    illiterate in a literate world..

I could work to correct my illiteracy and become literate in a reasonable time period.. So the situation could be quickly and easily fixed..

If i was the only literate person in the world i would not live long enough to see that problem fixed no matter how hard i worked  and so much knowledge would be lacking because there would be no books of knowledge.. I would have to write down what ever knowledge that would be preserved.. So it would be a very limited world because of a lack of knowledge..

I'd much rather be illiterate in a literate world.  You can learn to be literate, the other way around you'd be stuck teaching all the time, great if you love 24/7 teaching I guess.

  • To be illiterate in a literate world would be worse for me.

    I couldn't write, daar-h! No write - no me!

But worse, it'd be near impossible to get a job

and I'd be dependent on the good will and honesty of almost everyone to help me with taxes, forms, legal deeds, street signs, product lables, warnings, instructions...

If I was literate in an illiterate world, well, it would depend on how illiterate, but probably I could be helpful and useful to many, many people and that would definitely be a good feeling.
