  • Good call.

  • I'd fire up my Optometrist app and search for updates.

But a scarier scenario: I'm driving down the highway and I get an optical migraine and my vision expires. I pull over -- immediately -- and prepare to spend a couple of hours being shouted at by passing motorists.

  • That doesn't sound good!

  • It's not. Fortunately it hasn't happened when I've been driving but I'd have no hesitation in stopping. A blind man has no right to be in control of a car.

    Nothing.  I just keep driving.

It's not like your glasses or contacts instantly disappear, when they no longer fit your actual prescription needs.
For most people, it's a gradual process ... and you don't even realize how bad your old prescription was, until you get a new one.  LOL This post was edited by Walt O'Reagun at February 14, 2017 7:46 PM MST

  • I see. Sounds logical and sensible enough. Thanks for your insight.

I would probably keep trying to drive and get pulled over like that time I got a migraine while driving and my vision went all wonky..

  • Those are nasty. I completely lose vision when that happens. My only option is to pull over.

Yeah, apparently I was driving a bit like a drunk. I was trying to get home before the pain set in because I was really close and it was like 3am so I was the only person on the road, aside from the cop that magically materialized behind me.

  • Oh my! I guess I've never had a migraine then! Thanks for your reply, Patchouli.

Funny how that happened to coincide with the 6 pack of beer you just drank.  jajajajaja

  • Well, that can't be it!  I drank two of them before I got out of the driveway!

It wouldn't make much difference to me, as the spectacles don't just "expire" and eyesight usually drifts slowly anyway; but my opticians send me a nice appointment invitation a couple of weeks to so prior to my bi-annual eye-tests.
