Of what use is an uncritical press? If they don't report/investigate/question but just say "yes you're right" who needs them?

"Yes men" are a dime a dozen. "Yes women" too. All  they do is brown nose and suck up and kiss butts. You see them on TV every day. They are called "surrogates" and you need a barf bag nearby if you're gonna listen to them. It is not the job of the Media to be sycophants, toadies, obsequious and unctuous groupies.

I know you are talking about Trump and his attitude to the press, but ever since the Chiltern report into phone hacking by the News of the World, this has been an issue in the UK, with an ongoing argument over whether Chilterns recommendations about how to kerb such activity by the press go too far, whether there should be any statutary regulations at all, and whether the press can do an effective job at all with shackles on. Personally, I say HANDS OFF THE FREEDOM OF THE PRESS!

Me too! Authoritarian Dictator/Despots control the press, the TV, radio, newspapers, everything. Which means of course that the people don't know what the he** is going on because what they are allowed to see/head/read is pretzelized  distorted incomplete or manufactured "news". That's worse than a complete blackout. Thank you for your reply HarryD and Happy Wednesday to thee! :)
