I'm glad you posted this Rooster.  Being a purist, I rarely watch remakes and this one was no exception from my general rule.  But, I will give it a go, especially if the cinematography was great.  Thanks for the heads up.

Did you ever see a movie called The Grey Fox starring Richard Farnsworth?  Talk about cinematography!  Amazingly beautiful movie.  If you haven't seen it, I think it might be up your alley.

  • I have not watched it, but by the trailer it feels like a chick flick to me. No?

  • Are you telling me there's not a love story in there somewhere, where he has to rescue her at the last minute, and she has to make a decision that would change her life. But she finds a way to reconcile her carrier as an anthropologist with her love for Tarzan by establishing a research center of some sort in the middle of the jungle?

Maybe it's on cable..I'll take a look. I like those movie types and, like you, I  liked the old ones with Johnny Weissmuller.  The new one must be better than this..(LOL) This post was edited by Beans/SilentGeneration at February 20, 2017 2:59 PM MST

  • A journalist once asked Duke Kahanamoku, later in life, how he felt about finishing second in the 100 metres Freesyile in the 1924 Olympics. "Pretty good," he said. "It took Tarzan to beat me."

I grew up on Johnny Weismuller and, like you, I thought he was the best. The Bo Derek movie wasn't bad (Tarzan beating his chest in a war cry really captured the reason for those Tarzan yells). I just watched the trailer. Thanks for posting it. I'd like to see that one.
