Why are poor Americans so lazy and want everything handed to them?

  • Dear Mr. Bromide,

Well I am one of the 43 million Americans in poverty, so I can definitely speak for ALL of us...

Because, why should I put forth any effort when the gov't deprives rich people for my sake, forcing the wealthy to work their fingers to the bone and then just hand over whatever I want?
There are 13 1/2 of us per hundred now, and more of us every day, especially among children and nefarious, parasitic old folks like myself...
Personally I rather enjoyed the ten months I recently spent homeless in my car, but (from personal experience) lots of oldsters are not even surviving their poverty now. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at February 26, 2017 3:32 PM MST

Virginia, I had no idea.  You are one of the most intelligent people in any forum you find yourself and the contribution you make every day in the life of others is significant.  The life you've described is heartbreaking to read.  You are so beloved here, and we're on on Ask, and Blurtit.
This question really irks me.  I shouldn't answer it because I'll be heavily censored if I do.  But I expect you can read my mind anyway.  My best wishes are with you.

  • RK, I am new here, maybe you too...but I am not familiar with the asker - and when I made this answer, I was wondering if it was posted with tongue-in-cheek! My answer was certainly kinda flippant... This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at February 26, 2017 3:31 PM MST

Not all poor Americans are lazy.
Many work more then one job and still can't make ends meet.
So if they need a little help at keeping their families fed and a roof over their heads, I don't see a problem with that.
Granted there are people who do take advantage of the system and they do it because they can.
And that is the systems fault for not enforcing the laws against them.
