What idiocy?  The animal lunged at a person.  They had to shoot him.  Not looking at the link before commenting, that is a good example of human idiocy.

Wild animals should be in the wild.

Well, I don't see anything except an accident.  It kind of shows why they killed the gorilla instead of shooting him with a tranq.   Animals die all the time.  This was not a mistreatment, it was an accident.   The Jaguar was dangerous.  The worst I can say is shame on the handlers for forcing a wild animal to be in this situation in the first place.  But once the animal escaped, all bets are off.  The people need to be protected.

  • Yes I know the Jaguar leaped at the person so they had to shoot it. That's an unfortunate event that couldn't be stopped.

However they took a photo with the animal in chains after it had been shot. That's pretty brutal. The animal can't help its instincts took over, they had to do what they had to do but glorifying it is pretty horrible. We should probably try to avoid killing and posting pics of the recent dead near threatened (as the article stated) animals as much as we can help it.

I not only looked at the link before commenting, I searched for others that might have more details about the sad incident. I did not say that it was idiocy that Juma was shot, but I don't think she should been paraded around and //displayed// at the event in the first place. It is not surprising that the animal was confused and agitated at a loud, crowded ceremony, OR that she lunged at someone after being shot with tranquilizer darts.

Making inane assumptions is pretty idiotic, too.

I do tend to ignore some people, Remy, even when they reply to me directly. It's just the wiser choice sometimes, I've found. :)

Well, yesterday we had a horse running loose on the Interstate Highway in Houston, if you can imaging how heave traffic is here, even at night. It could have been killed, but it wasn't and it made the news.

Animals get more national headlines than people, especially zoo animals.

Well Remy, just about every site I've like this I've ever participated on, has people on it who thrive on getting all insulting over disagreements.

No one wanted to kill the animal.  He lunged toward someone after being shot with a tranquilizer dart.
