Students are at the mercy of their teachers as children are at the mercy of their parents. Aren't they?

At least teachers are required to have an education and credentials to teach. What are the requirements for being a parent? The same as for all the other animals. Sex. That's it. That's all ya gotta engage in. Don't kids get short-changed?  What can be done to give them a break?
