Absolutely. I'm a nurse and work in a hospital, not only is the name badge a "name badge" but it allows me access to parking, and is my time clock, it also is a security issue...anyone can put on a pair of scrubs...
No, and I always despised wearing one. I would get so annoyed when people I never met would say my name. It's so weird to use someone's name if they haven't introduced it to you. Strange and somewhat rude to me. Strangers don't need to know my name, I don't know theirs. Except in Angela's case, then it makes sense.
I would have preferred a tag that said Employee #3965.

I don't particularly like strangers knowing my name either...especially the ones who decide to yell it out over and over...."hey nurse" is bad enough! Lol! (My tag seems to find its way backwards, often!)
I wear a badge to give me access to parts of the hospital I work in. I mostly stay in my office, but if I want to follow any of my co-workers around, I need the badge.
I worked for the state for 15 years. My ID badge also opened the doors and accesses the elevators. Now I work in a hospital and have a badge. I don't need it to get in, but I need it walk around some places. Plus, it gets me 10% off in the cafeteria. :)
