If you let the old and the ill die then cost of insurance will be less and all the healthy folks can enjoy coverage at a much cheaper rate. That is what some folks say is the benefit of wars. People die. There are fewer of them. Weeds out the population. Survival of the fittest. It does seem rather cold to me but perhaps possibly it is meant to be. Wars and dying from disease due to lack of health care. Positive tools to keep the population in check since people insist on breeding and keep adding other people to the planet. It gives one something to think about.
Dear RosieG,
Truthfully no, I don’t think death of the old is the goal of those changing our national insurance…I actually think the real problem is much deeper, really kinda existential…interwoven into the fabric of our culture.
My own dear cousin tries to say, “Oh, just vote Republican (or Democrat, Libertarian), that is THE answer.” But we have not looked at our deep human fears, our greed…two massive world wars, and now we have atomic energy and STILL don’t understand ourselves, the being whose finger is on that nuclear trigger…

At the same time I will just add this, as one rather recently finding myself old, I DO notice lots of predatory glances toward us oldsters now, looking to mine us for all we might be worth...but that is non-sectarian, it is equal-opportunity.
As someone who has survived (so far) the British National Health Service I have to tell you the people of the US have nothing to worry about,
Medicare takes care of the older people and there's Medicaid for people who have limited incomes as far as I understand.
