    Here is what I did...it was 1998 (thus before 9/11)...I was near the US/Mexico border, and the guards were stopping all the cars and searching them.

    But when they got to me, they just waved me on through! I was 55 y/o then and said, "No, I would like you please to check my car, too." And I got out, took them through everything, inch by inch.
