If something bothers you from years ago, should you see a psychotherapist?

That's what I was told.

See a shrink anyway or a priest. What harm can it do? This post was edited by O-uknow at March 10, 2017 10:06 AM MST

  • Sometimes it's not a bad thing to talk to someone. They can often offer you another perspective of what has been bothering you....talking usually helps you deal with things too.

That's exactly what I'm doing. It's better than sitting on your caboose doing nothing.

  • Dear AG,

See a psychotherapist ONLY if you want to, if you are drawn to that...
We all have our own way of coping with what bothers us, what has hurt us. Just go with what makes most sense to you...but not because someone else TELLS you to.

For about ten years, I had lots of fascinating dreams and so I studied the work of Carl Jung. I would even drive 800 miles to attend a dream group, it was just the right thing for me!

  • I'd try good friends first ... Depending on what it was that's troubling you ... But as others above have said... Often it's just having some one to listen and offer their thoughts and perspectives .. good luck :)
