Are we as people ready to admit that super-hero movies are the lamest cinema since rom-coms?

Oooooo.... mind numbing childish  nonsense and overdone CGI.  Whoopeeeeeeeeeeeee......

Well Guardians of the Galaxy was decent I guess.

  • I've wondered about their popularity. I stopped reading comics when I was a kid; I don't see the on-screen attraction. I guess they appeal to a lot of people.

  • They seem to.   My sister loves them but for the life of me can't sit still while one is on.

Even when I was into comics I got bored with  the super-hero types fairly quickly.

Not really. There is a maxim in the Science fiction world: "90% of everything is crap". It is usually called Sturgeons Law (named after the SF author who formulated it) and it applies in any field. TV shows, books, art, whatever.

Point being that even though there are a lot of crappy performances of "Hamlet", there are also some good ones. It is our job to seek them out ;-))

  • Well that's only true about Sci-fi because of James Cameron.  It would be lower if he didn't make his POS sci-fi movies.

  • I now have this vision of adult (kids) playing video games in the basement of parents home. Super hero movies or comic books, would just be the icing on the cake.
*I just threw up a little in my mouth*

The very bright people of Hollywood realize that most parents give their teenagers get an allowance. And they want to take as many allowances as they can by putting out teenage stuff.

  • It seems like almost all of the new movies are based on comic books. Like this one which was mildly entertaining.

  • Yeah I liked a tad more than most of the other ones.   The movie plot wasn't that good but the Harley, Deadshot, and Joker characters made for some interest.    They should have had the Joker in it a lot more I thought.  That is hands down the best Joker in any movie with the character.

I think it would have been a pretty good movie if they didn't go with such a silly antagonist.  That was it's downfall for me.

  • I agree! From what I saw of Suicide Squad 2 is that the Joker will be one of the main characters. Might be worth a watch.

  • You know?   Now that I think of it maybe it's just that I never really liked Marvel comics and only liked DC in the Vertigo brand.

  • I was real busy climbing the ladder on my swing set with a foam sword and screaming " By the power of Greyskull!"  around that age.  Then I would dress our German Shepard up like Battle Cat and get yelled  at for annoying the dog with Scotch tape and construction paper. :(
