    Maybe. I don't know about that. For me its more of a base fear. I fear anything that tries to pass itself off as happy and trustworthy to unsuspecting children.

  • I don't know.. but I suspect not.  We have the same fear here.. and i think some of it is based on childhood fear ..taken to circus and they are big and very exaggerated, they behave in ways that possibly confuse children... doing things they know are *naughty* - they look unnatural...loud, brash... inhuman... I think that's probably enough

  • Nah, it's a mental perception.   They are scary to people because the make-up creates a false expression and people aren't able to accurately  read them based on physical cues and facial expressions.
