  • External hard-drive and flashdrives.

I don't use the clouds for anything important.

  • That depends.  When I'm home everything get put on flash drives and (ahemm) DVDs (remember them? lol) I just happen to have a couple of cases of them.

When I'm mobile,  on the road and want to secure something important...it goes to the cloud

  • I agree, works for me and all my different devices. It's just as safe, perhaps more, than anytime you use any device.

Forgot to mention ... I do not keep any detail account or other identification or hacking opportunities. Pictures are my main usage.  This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at March 24, 2017 1:01 PM MDT

Yes, I did say that. Now, backup up just a bit more and relax.

  • I also use external hard drives or a flash drive and I keep Dropbox on my external to keep all my photos and such. The cloud can easily be hacked. This I know for a fact.

  • Both.

Most of my material doesn't really matter and I backed it up to an external hard drive once in a while.

But I had fallen into the habit of using One Drive for my most frequently modified files and kept them all in one folder so they could be more easily reached from any of my devices. A few weeks I managed to delete the entire folder and lost the lot only to find they hadn't been backed up since November. Everything I'd added in that four month period was lost. Some of it mattered.

Now I do a quick copy of that folder to Google Drive every week as well as backing up to an external hard drive once a month.

No.  I send nothing to the clouds other than helium balloons.
