Do you wish progress was slower?

  • Almost 50 years ago a man named Alvin Toffler described the reaction to speedy progress as "future shock". Some people just can't cope with it.

    I don't know what he'd have made of the computer age (which hadn't yet begun). He'd have gone into future shock himself if he experienced today's progress.

  • Yes.   Human brains aren't adapted to keep up with it yet.
    Seriously though,   I really think a lot of the problems and unrest is do to the tech and information bombardment being more than our brains have adapted to filter and process.  Most of us today are taking in and processing more information in a typical weekend than  a person 100+ years ago did in two weeks.
