At sunset (just to be awkward). There are places in the Australian Outback where no unnatural light exists at all. I think it's one of the rare places where you can see the stars as if in a planetarium (though a planetarium is a model of the real thing, we get to see the model more than the real thing, you know what I mean), pute and unadulterated. So that would be pretty good too.
It's like the seas and the oceans, something you can look at as time whizzes about around you and never gets noticed. Thank you, I like it very much. It's truly beautiful.
Years ago there was a massive blackout in the northeast and midwest. The view of the night sky was amazing. There were a few isolated pockets of power but not much. At first it was predicted it could last a week but sadly it was back to normal the next day-day and 1/2.
No. This was in 2003 before the digicamera explosion and wasn't planning on takig pictures before things shut down. It was really cool though. Could see more stars in a city then than most rural areas now. Plus it forced everyone outside and it was the biggest beer and BBQ party I ever seen.
I love the sky in all various ways. Lightening, dark threatening, all stars visible, light and sunny... they all have their thing. The bad weather ones, although I only like for a limited period at a time. Here's a sunset I photographed while on the road in the early night last summer. Can't wait to have back the light summer nights. Mhmm.
Overcast is the best. I just love the grey color and it's not obnoxiously bright like a sunny sky. It also has kind of a spooky feel to it, which I like.
