When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look but it was gone. I cannot put my finger on it now. The child is grown, the dream is gone.
Thanks, nobodylari.37. I really like it, too. I feel like those words right now.
And I find it poetry, too -- you're right, I should have posted it there.
And, do forgive me, I purposefully gave no credit to the lyricist in my question because I now feel just like those words. They're my favorite lines from my favorite song in the entire album. Roger Waters wrote the song "Comfortably Numb" and it's on Pink Floyd's "The Wall" album.
Thanks for answering, nobodylair.37! Be Well, WelbyQ :)

Haha, silly me, I didn't know this was from Comfortably Numb.. guess I need to listen to it a few more times. And yeah, lyrics are definitely poetry. Some are amazing poetry. Thanks for sharing :)
I agree totally with you about song lyrics and poetry. Yeah, these words in my question are right at the end of the song. I almost cry a bit each time I hear them in the song -- and that's when I'm in a stable mood, ha! I think I might avoid listening to the song this evening (another ha!) -- but those words surely were in my mind.
The sound of frantic feet Running fast down the street Quick hurry don't you just wait drop everything get within the gate That thing....no that....image.... There it goes in foliage Welby woke up in a daze Everything was just a haze He was no longer a child That dream again..he smiled Time so softly passes by Welby thought as he lay;))
Veena.K, you've accurately portrayed my mind and being! :) Thank you! (and if this is an already-existing lyric or poem, I'm unfamiliar with it!)
:)
UPDATE ~ I read further comments from you- - that poem is original from you. Thank you again. That was a tough night for me when I wrote the question. I'm still having a rough go of things lately, to be honest, but I just forge ahead,

I composed it Welby, dunno why I was very moved when I read your thoughts. I love writing poems, it comes naturally, my relatives and friends always await my poems for their anniversaries or birthdays, dwelling on their traits the words flow spontaneously;)) God bless you dear, whatever it is that is ailing you,may it go away...Amen!
Thanks you, Veena.K! I failed to see an alert for your comment here. I'm sorry for my delay in responding! Yes, I do have challenges sometimes in a couple of areas but I persevere. :) Thanks, again! :)
Dear NobodyLair, and WelbyQuentin, and Veena.K...I for one hope you ALL of you post verse here in the main aMug occasionally...coz I loved all of it...my good friend Yosey from ASK loves Pink Floyd and shows me some of her favourites... * * * And I will respond with a verse from Wordsworth, same nuance...I actually memorized this in childhood and still know it by heart!
There was a time when meadow, grove, and stream The Earth, and every common sight To me did seem appareled in celestial light The glory and the freshness of a dream.
It is not now as it hath been of yore; Turn wheresoe'er I may, By night or day The things which I have seen, I now can see no more.
Ummm dear Virginia you are so kind....i read the dialogue between Welby and nobodylair.....Dunno but I felt some heart pangs at welby's words ...it moved me and ah the words flowed....! You are so eloquent in everything Virginia and any compliment from you means the world to me!

Dear WelbyQuentin, Clearly the Pink Floyd lyrics reflected your experience, or somehow meaningful for you, and it is truly wonderful...I would even say precious.
