I'd not heard it until earlier today (or yesterday, I guess) right here on answermug. I agree with you, it's complete and utter crap. :)

    That's funny.

But seriously... I'm not sure about being physically CLOSER to Canada, but I think about how to get the hell out of Trumpland every single day.

You totally misinterpret the statement that I posted yesterday---even after I explained it when asked. The statement is based on the fact that it is more likely that you will find more leaders in a group of men over 6 feet tall in a random group of leaders than you would expect to find in a random assemblage of leaders.

This is consistent with the atavistic response that we humans have in the process of choosing our leaders with regard to their physical characteristics rather than their unknown abilities.

It is a misuse of any tool of inference to infer from that statement that a person's height affects their ability to be a good leader.

I fear your only intellectual exercise is jumping to conclusions.

"I fear your only intellectual exercise is jumping to conclusions".

I would thank you for your concern if it was genuine. We both know that it isn't.

Your explanation/clarification didn't mitigate my opinion of your opinion. I still think this statement and it's conclusion is offensive and untrue.

"One of the best way to choose good leaders is to erect a sign 6 feet tall and reject anyone who can walk under it without hitting his head. While of course you will miss a few excellent short leaders, you are going to have a large pool of people who have already reached at least first base---and it's hard to win the game without base runners."

There's nothing wrong with agreeing to disagree, Mr. Jackson. The fact that I don't agree with you does not mean that I'm incapable of understanding what you said. It does not mean that I'm intellectually inferior. Also, I specifically asked if you were referring to men of average/below average stature or to women, and you didn't respond to that. My inference from your non-response was that your statement referred to both.

I didn't mention your name in this question, btw. It's of no concern to me, but you might assess why you felt the need to defend yourself to the responders. It could prove useful.

  • I can imagine a taller person being more respected... But that doesn't improve his own skills

I'd have to investigate further, but given he's head of the Liberal Party, he's got to be a million times better than our overgrown oompa loompa of a president! :)

  • No, I've never heard that they make a good leader. I have however heard of the "short man complex" in which short men are controlling and bully-ish to make up for being vertically challenged.

Not a better leader. But have heard that in the US general election most of the time the taller candidate wins. This is true for majority of presidential elections since 1904.
