No...I have met some pathetic losers in bars who spend 12 hours a day drinking away their pensions. I do feel sorry for those who live in pitiful conditions not of their own choosing, such as most of the populations of many nations living under dictatorial rule.

pitiful?? I feel for those that are suffering I feel for those that are lost in the illusion. I feel for the refugees from countries that are engulfed in war. I feel for those that are homeless and hungry. Is what you see as pitiful covered in any of that?
We are all pitiful -and yes, I do feel sorry for us all. But I am also very proud, and deeply touched, by all the brave and graceful things we manage to do despite our terrible flaws.
