Mike Pence describes himself as "Christian Conservative Republican in that order". What about being an American or a father or a husband? How do you describe yourself? Why?

Pence has quaint 19th century ideas that won't float today. The idea of being an American hints of nationalism. Nationalism is another term for elitist.

 I'm not so sure. It seems nationalist and isolationist are other words for populist. Say the word Global and these folks jump down your throat. They are sufficient unto themselves. They are all they need or want in life. Simple folks. They don't  want to be bothered  by anything that is NOT American. Of course their definition of the word is uniquely theirs.
