"I don't stand by anything". What Trump said to a reporter who asked if he stood by a statement he had made. Finally the truth! Why?

I don't know what the statement was. How does that matter?

    That was said in an interview Trump gave John Dickerson.  Trump brought up his claim that Obama wiretapped him and Dickerson questioned him about it further. 
    TRUMP: Well, you saw what happened with surveillance. And I think that was inappropriate, but that’s the way–

    DICKERSON: What does that mean, sir?

    TRUMP: You can figure that out yourself.

    DICKERSON: Well, I – the reason I ask is you said he was – you called him “sick and bad”.

    TRUMP: Look, you can figure it out yourself.
    When Dickerson asked if Trump stands by the claims he made about Obama, Trump replied, “I don’t stand by anything. I just – you can take it the way you want. I think our side’s been proven very strongly.”

    Happy to help.  I watched that interview when it aired.  When Trump sees himself as being backed into a corner (Dickerson asking him to clarify what he said), he all but stamped his feet and said the interview was over.  I guess Trump isn't used to being questions to thoroughly.  Happy Monday. :)
