    I'm SURE it had something to do with Whitley Striber, the author of this "tome".    He swore up and down that he was communicating with aliens, he had a group of people who saw the same things, supposedly, but then, years later, he said he was bombed out of his mind on vodka.

    So, the question remains.    Is he credible?  It begs the question: Are aliens only attracted to brains soaked in alcohol for some reason.  (?)

    Also he wrote The Hunger about modern-day vampires and they were very feral.   They could smell that blood.
