When I asked would Melania Trump make a statement for women's rights while in Saudi Arabia I was told it was an inappropriate time.

The trip is not about human rights. It is about national security and making stronger allies in the fight against terrorists

I'm a bit shocked that she is went with The Donald. I was half-convinced that she and Mike Pence had run away together! (no one would blame either of them). 

Even if Trump wasn't already on his way out the door, I doubt if we'd have seen Melania say much of anything. 

Diplomacy is about getting through the walls separating you from the person you are talking with, not about building the wall higher.

Melania met with women at a business center, while Ivanka attended a roundtable on women's economic empowerment where women's issues were discussed.  Ivanka also is supporting a new global women's entrepreneurship fund to be run by the World Bank to which Saudi Arabia and UAE pledged a combined $100 million.
