Why do people bum rush the elevators the second the doors open?

You're supposed to wait a nanosecond to see if anyone is getting off first.

    One of my pet peeves.  But a bigger peeve is when the doors open and the person in the elevator is looking in his/her iPhone and isn't paying attention and tries to get out as you're getting in after waiting.
