AnswerMug is sending me the same replies to questions by the same people three or more times.
Would it be possible to write a routine that detects when a message has been read and when it's deleted does not send it again unless fresh material is written?
I'm not experiencing the same issue, so I can't say 100% what's happening. My best guess is that you're getting emails for different responses from the same person on a question. For example, if I used the like stamp on a question with 20 answers and gave each person one, it would generate 20 emails. The system here is limited and it doesn't really keep a record of this, so each message is its own deal.
It was designed for a much lower-volume site. The thought process was that if someone gets an email, they're going to come back and interact again. That's all well and good on a site where people don't respond to several questions at once or where questions don't get lots of answers, but here? Yeah, it stinks.
Anyway, I'm betting you're actually getting unique "alerts" for each reply on a question. The revamped mug is TOTALLY different. First off, the like buttons are real like buttons, not stamps, so they don't generate an alert or notification for anyone but the person whose stuff was liked. Secondly, the alerts are mostly internal, but you can choose to have an email sent to you if you want.
If the amount of emails is driving you mad, I suggest going into your email settings and switching to daily digests. That'll give you one link instead of 20 different emails per question and it comes once a day. It may help you muddle through until I finish the redesign.
there might be a glitch going on, just email answermug about it
