"Go forth and multiply". Except some can't. They're infertile. They're not built to bear children and survive birth. They have a familial genetic disease. What are THEY supposed to do?

What if there were a 50% chance that you would pass along a terrible disease to your children? Would you multiply anyway?

  • Go forth and multiply. Do it with complete irresponsibility, Do it because you can and not because you have the maturity and the means to raise a child and will accept all the responsibility for providing for said child. Obviously, if you can't conceive, then you can't. If you want the responsibility of a child, then you adopt. There are numerous physical limitations that prevent people from doing many things in this life. The statement that is quoted above has nothing to do with us in today's world. It's another scripture taken out of context. I would suggest reading what comes before and after to understand it in its entirety.

If I had a terrible genetic disease which was really debilitating and therefore causes constant suffering.. then no I would not have a child.. I don't think that's fair at all on the child... living to just suffer..just no... and I would be being selfish by having that child, just because I wanted one.. you have to think of the life that child could have.. and I just couldn't do it.. it would destroy me seeing my child suffer like that and knowing that I allowed it.

Luckily I don't have any genetic medical problems.
