"Harry Potter readers more likely to dislike Donald Trump" . See details below. Did you like Harry? Do you like Donald? So that does't apply to you, true?

Per a study that will be published in PS:Political Science & Politics  University of Pennsylvania Professor Diana Matz said readers might see parallels between Trump's political style and the book's villain Lord Voldemort.

What? So who's Harry Potter in this scenario? I'm a huge fan of Harry Potter but in no way did I ever draw parallels between Trump and Voldemort... It almost seems like an insult to Voldemort, lol.

  • The study should be renamed Rosie.  I don't think there's any need for the words 'Harry Potter' at the start and it would still retain it's validity.

I don't see any real similarities between the books 'big baddie' and Trump though.  Voldemort is at least somewhat reliable.

I couldn't get on with the books myself, which surprised me.  As for Trump, ...... words fail me.

Let's put it more succinctly.  Any readers.  Any human beings  who know how to read and listen, not only Potter fans,  are against Trump.

Trump is for DOLTS who don't read.  Or dolts  who read and misinterpret on purpose, to fit what their band of dolts believe.

.... and who fit the MUGGLE mold.  The Muggles were the 'Non-Magic' people in the Potter story, who kept their heads in the sand and hated magic or anything that was not accepted in their government dictates.

As long as the government said it was correct, they blindly followed suit.   They wanted life to go on smoothly and did not want to THINK.  They trashed any possibility of magic being real and reported any magical happenings.

    Sound familiar?

Apologies to you MrWitch but I don't have clue what you mean. Can  you indulge me by breaking it all down to the very simplest terms? Thank you.

I think Dr. Matz's explanation is a bit of stretch.

Instead, I think Lord Voldemort has become sort of a generic Icon of Evil, in much the same way Hitler's name is invoked to describe irredeemable evil. So people who don't like Trump equate him to Voldemort.

I do something of the same thing when I call the Vice President of the previous administration Darth Cheney. I know he's really NOT a Sith Lord (he isn't, is he?...;-D...) and the invasion of Iraq has very few parallels with The Clone Wars, but it's a quick flip way to express how evil I believe Go F**k Youself Dick is.

  • A weak attempt at humour Rosie.  :).  When I saw the question I thought, 'That question would look better with the first two words taken out completely - and would likely be just as believable'.

I had to re-read my question MrWitch to get it. You crack me up.  Totally. I love dry wit you see. I don't wanna be hit over the head with the obvious.  Absolutely that would have been an improvement to the question making it truer! Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday m'dear! :)

MrWitch mentioned removing the first two words of my question as well Sharonna so the two of you are on the same wavelength. Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday! :)

Mahalo for your reply OS. I think MrWitch nailed it. The question would have been improved had I  eliminated "Harry Potter". Happy Friday!  :)
