When you put down an animal it's because the animal is dying. An act of love to ease the death. What does it mean when you putdown a prez?

The prez has suffered some severe putdowns. Slapdowns. Smackdowns. Humiliations. Losses. Embarrassments. I doubt that love has anything to do with it. What does?
