Mark Twain said that there are three types of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics. Statistics can be biased easily. That figure is surely much too low. Democrats and Republicans should be nearly even in numbers. There are some alternative parties, but the numbers of their followers are small. I would guess that there are no more than 10%-15% of voters among these alternative parties, so the numbers of Democrats and Republicans would each be in the 40%-45% range, rather than any major party having only 25% of the voters.
