What happened to equal treatment?
Should the laws not apply to everyone equally rather than discriminate?
Should entry be based on education and aptitude rather than what color you were born?
It shouldn´t be that way.
In the case at the University of Texas.... "Yes" !
Or if you are a football player, or if there happens to be a scholarship fund you happen to meet the criteria for, or if your last name happens to be Bush, or etc....;-D...
"Equal treatment" is an unrealized ideal that only exists in your fantasy world.
So long as institutes of higher education are allowed to discriminate on all sorts of other bases (are you a football player? Are you applying to the engineering school or the dance program? Did your Daddy go to school here and/or donate a huge pile of money? Etc.), I see nothing wrong with it in principle.
I think this is to level the playing field after 100 years of discrimination and being relegated to 2nd class citizenship..... Was that the equal treatment you were referring to ?
