Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» At least the Bush war OF CHOICE in Iraq didn't involve nuclear weapons. The Trump war will. Congrats to all of you who voted for him. Happy?
Obviously there are no good choices. But there are more than "Pay the ransom" and "Get people nuked." This is a time for cooler heads to prevail and Trump has shown absolutely no capability in that area. It really is frightening. Wouldn't want to be living in Guam right now. Or Asia.
It's called diplomacy, which Trump knows nothing about. Even if he learned- and he shows little interest in learning anything- he does not have the emotional maturity to carry it out. Have we "been there, done that?" Absolutely. As I said, there are no good choices so we need to keep right on using diplomacy, in conjunction with sanctions. What else do you suggest? Taunting a fellow unstable tyrant?
Speaking of which, it would be really helpful if President Dumb-dumb didn't make flippant remarks about North Korea being "met with fire and fury like the world has never seen.” Gee, was he joking? Did he mean it? Was he talking about something else? Was his remark part of some larger strategy? What a time to play guessing games, with tens upon thousands of lives at stake.
Don't know how many times I have to repeat myself. There are no good choices. I want us to do exactly as I said, use sanctions and diplomacy, without escalation of the situation by an ignorant, egomaniacal, trigger happy President Dumb-dumb. The man hasn't the foggiest notion about history, politics or global affairs and he's too immature and narcissistic to listen to those around him who do. If we could lock him in a room without his phone for the next 3 plus years, the world would already be a safer place. Unfortunately that's not an option so the best we can hope for is to limit whatever damage he can do by putting up a toddler-proof fence.
That toddler has China partcipating in the sanctions against NK something no other POTUS has been able to do in the past....is that diplomatic enough? No country should be paid because they threatened us.
China's participation was negotiated in spite of President Dumb-dumb, not because of him. Luckily they kept him behind his toddler-proof fence long enough to get it done. Only thing he remembers about China's President is sharing the world's most delicious piece of chocolate cake with him.
Look, I understand the need to defend your candidate no matter how much of a disaster he is. Let's just hope he doesn't get tens of thousands of people blown to kingdom come.
Whomever you want to credit...no credit goes to Obama, Bush or Clinton neither they nor any in their administration were able to bring China in before.
Because diplomacy has worked so well with North Korea for the last 60 some years. Sounds like a plan, a BAD plan. After all the definition of insanity is repeating the same actions and expecting different results . . . .
And a good "rule-of-thumb" to live by: Don't negotiate with terrorists or the criminally insane. North Korea's current "leader" (if you can call him that) is both.

Perhaps you missed the part where it's North Korea overtly threating the US with nuclear firepower. So far I haven't heard Mr. Trump mention a nuclear first strike against North Korea as a possibility like you seem to be implying. Perhaps you can provide a reference to that?
President Chump needs the approval of about 14 people, including his Defence Secretary and joint Chiefs of Staff before he could launch a nuclear attack, so I wouldn't worry just yet. He can't just push a button. Also, it is not clear if "fire and fury like the world has never seen" meant the deployment of nuclear weapons. Trump lied (again) when he claimed to have increased America's nuclear arsenal. He has not had time to do so. All he did was instruct his secretary of defence to conduct a Nuclear Posture Review ( as has every other president at the start of his administration), which will take years to complete. The nuclear arsenal was increased by Barack Obama. https://www.factcheck.org/2017/08/trump-misfires-nuclear-weapons-boast/
I shall start off with a BIG SIGH Harry D. What you stated above is very much the truth. Sadly and unfortunately. Doofus Donny has an aversion to the truth. He must be deathly allergic to it. Why he has any support at all from anyone shall always remain a mystery to me. Thank you for your thoughtful reply and the link you provided and Happy Saturday. :)
