.
The statement was ban all Muslims from terrorist countries till vetted. That is what the Obama administration is supposed to be doing already.
People on the watch list have not been charged with a crime or judged to be terrorist.
If people on the watch list are US citizens then they have the same rights as any other citizen. Due process is required.
i dont think they should ban them, not all of them are terrorists
I'm not a good example honey. I am NOT a gun person as you very well know and as for travel the last time Jim and I flew on a place was 6 years ago and it was the LAST time we ever will. Travel by plane is a pain in the A** for old people. It's very tiring and uninspiring and time-consuming so I don't have to be prevented from or restricted from buying a gun or getting on a
plane. I ain't interested! Thank you for your reply m2c! :)
Thank you for your answer pearl and Happy Sunday! :)

SIGH. It is useless HarryD. Your message will not get through except to those who agree with you. I appreciate your attempts to bring logic and reason to the table but you must know that those who need it most reject it most. Thank you for your impassioned and logical and spot-on reply. Again! :)

Ban all Muslims from entering the US. should of been done years ago, One of many clues, the twin towers. The Muslims that are already here should have to go through a rigorous background check and anything off kilter, deport them immediately.
Hello deaves:
Nahhh... Here's the relevant passage.. They founders COULD have said "citizens", but they said "persons" instead.. I don't think that was an oversight.
"...nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.."
excon
We can and do decide who can and cannot come into the country.
The constitution is not a global document applied to everyone. It governs citizens and people within the borders. People wishing to enter are subject to the laws. So if the gov decides not to allow entry they can. They do it with other countries by setting quotas on how many can enter.
Non-citizens (except permanent residents) cannot legally buy guns.
If a person has served their time you still feel they should not get their rights back??
A convicted felon has to go to court to get their right to buy a gun again. This takes up to 10 years to get through the courts.
I think if your rights were denied because some gov worker put you on a list you would cry like a baby.
How about a list of people who cannot post online?
Ok so you will stop anybody who tries to take away your rights. How are you going to do that? Yell at them to stop? Your rights are on paper. You can do nothing if someone takes them from you.
Your fear mongering is bogus. If it were true there would be anarchy in the US by now.
Hello again, deaves:
The question was about immigrating AND the watch list.
Immigrating INTO the country does NOT trigger the 5th Amendment... Nobody has a RIGHT to come in. But, IF you're here, no matter WHO you are, you are protected by the Constitution.. Ergo, if a CITIZEN has due process rights to KEEP him OFF a government list, so does EVERYBODY..
excon
Hello d:
Here's the 2nd Amendment in FULL.. Can you point out the part that says it does NOT apply to NON CITIZENS??
"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."
Seems to me ALL people are "people". No?
excon
Most of the people on the list are non- US citizens. So no due process is warranted or necessary. They can be denied entry at any time for any reason. They do not have a right to enter the country.
US citizens on the list have a constitutional right to due process. No question about that.
So yes if a citizen is on the list they have a constitutional right to due process.
Ted Kennedy was on the list for years as well as a two year old. Without due process people wrongfully place on the list would have no recourse to get their name off the list.
What is the problem with doing things legally?
Excon. If you read the Federalist Papers and letters written by the framers to each other they routinely used the word people to mean citizens of the US.
And as you state people have to right to due process so if it applied to everyone in the world we would have no immigration laws since everyone would have a right to enter the country. Making the no fly list illegal.
I completely disagree with thee. Thank you for your reply BSurf and Happy Sunday! :)
:):):)

Hello again, deaves:
Nahhh... In Article II, the founders used the word CITIZEN. They COULD have used the word "people", but they didn't. I don't think that was by accident. Plus, the Constitution is LAW. The Federalist Papers ISN'T. The Constitution is a SIMPLE document, written the way it was to AVOID confusion.. The words they used were NO accident.
I don't understand your last paragraph. I don't know WHY having due process rights means you can enter any country you wish..
excon
If the words of the constitution is written to avoid confusion then why do people continue to interpret the wording to mean the opposite of what is written?
Again you think if someone got put on a list they are terrorist and should be denied their rights even when not proven guilty. The FBI saw no reason to deny them there rights.
There has been no review of this list and even a two year old is on the list.
The point you miss is the FBI denied 21 people after review. I guess it did work after all.
Because we are dying to die? That is what will happen if we start this nonsense. We are itching for a war the scope of which we are not prepared for. The easiest way to sneak killers in is to look for them and announce publicly that you are looking for them and announce publicly HOW you will do this. Let's put them on a "watch list". If I were seeking to invade America and do harm? I would capture cute white women and brainwash them and send them back to mommy and daddy, armed and dangerous and able to fool anyone. That is one thing that would be so damned easy to do. And I am not even a terrorist. I just thought that very doable method up JUST NOW. Imagine how easy it would be for killers to thwart being detected when they know what to look for and evade?
It's STUPID. So, of course, we are all for it. Making people feel secure when they have ZERO chance of really ever being secure again because Uncle Sam is here. Please. Those days are over. There is not viable alternative to good common sense.
Hello Rosie:
If we get down to the core issue, we should just ban government lists altogether.. If the government thinks somebody should be in jail, they should PROSECUTE them.. Otherwise, they should leave people ALONE. The only reason the government KEEPS lists of people is to harass them, or take away their rights.. Clearly, even BEING on a list means that you've been profiled, which itself is not Constitutional..
#Not in favor of lists..
excon
How can you ban all Muslims ??
That´s so beyond riduculous.
But hey, it comes from a Republican idiot clown, what else can you expect ?
I agree. Keeping someone off a plane does not keep them from doing bad things. Just may slow them down a bit.
Yes is is absolutely profiling.
