Monday, August 22, 2017. SOLAR ECLIPSE DAY. Gonna watch? From what city?

For Hemet, California it will be like this. We won't see the total eclipse..only partial.

It begins at 9:07 a.m.
Max viewing for us will be 10:23 a.m.
It ends at 11:47 a.m.

We have our dark glasses ready (the ones they give you after eye surgery). We also have two sheets of paper with pinholes just to be extra ready/safe.  It's kinda exciting to have something like this to share worldwide that won't end in tragedy or deaths. A respite from the ugly. SIGH Some areas won't see any of it and some will see the best of it for the longest time. Are you at "oh boy oh boy" or "ho hum how dumb?"

Im excited. Our whole family is. My son is a Fleet Owner and is driving up to Atlanta that day. The visibility will be 97 percent. He bought 25 pair of eclipse ready glasses (only available in bulk) that he gave to us and will pass around to other truckers during the eclipse when necessary.  We will have the same vantage point as we only live five hours out of Atlanta. I cant wait. If no afternoon thunderstorms get in the way, we should have a 97 percent visibility also. I think im going to gather up my daughter grandson and my sons girlfriend and go to the beach and watch it around 2:00. I think ill bring some watermelon.

Geez sweetie lucky you! We'll be seeing possibly 67% or so. Boy 97% is AWESOME! This will be an historic day in all our lives. I'll be thinking of you doing the same thing as we're doing...at different times of the day of course! Hopefully no untoward 'weather' will get in the way! Hip hip hooray! Thank you for your reply cp and Happy day-before-solar eclipse day to thee! :) This post was edited by RosieG at August 20, 2017 6:19 AM MDT

Rosie, the date is August 21 (Monday).  New York City will be seeing about 71% of the eclipse at around 2:43 PM.
