Humans eat the most meat by virtue of their numbers across the world.
According to the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization and estimated by weight of the flesh, the pig is the most widely eaten meat in the world at 36% of all meats consumed, birds come next at 33%, and ruminants at 24%.
After humans, lions and big cats because they are obligate carnivores.
Is that not covered in the statistics on the type of animals from which the flesh comes, pigs, fowl, and cloven-footed beasts?
For the one species most eaten, the UN says the answer is pigs.
Guessing this reflects the billions of meat-eaters in China and South-East Asia.
