    Moths are attracted to bright objects of any kind. The exact reason is not known. One theory is that moths navigate by maintaining a constant angular relationship to lights in the sky (such as the moon), so if they encounter any other kind of bright light, they tend to spiral towards it.

    They hang out around lights at night so they can find mates.  I wonder what they did back before electric lights?
