Politics is based on Willy Nilly Shilly Shally. Busting/bursting a gut for profit and fame. Isn't that the name of the game?

How many pols go broke in government and how many end up wealthier than when they entered? Isn't politics a profit center and once you enter you leave much much much much much much much better off? Why else would it be filled with so many inept ones who have so little to offer and so much to gain? It isn't what they have to give but what they expect to get that drives them and who can blame them? It is the way of the world. It is what opportunists and profiteers do. They just want their cut of it. Whatever it takes is what they do. Politics circa 2017. SIGH

Nobody goes into politics for the money. The drum of power has a different beat. Trump's Presidential salary is pocket change to him.

Why do so many of them leave wealthier than they were and become lobbyists for those who used to lobby them then Sbf? I think they all go into politics for the money. Power and prestige always come with it right? Just my opinion of course. I think they are all greedy son's of B's  and the more money they can get by whatever means the more successful they think they are. Thank you for your reply.

  • "Maybe fame, but not profit."

According to Title 3 of the US Code, the US President "shall earn" a salary of $400,000, along with a $50,000 annual expense account, a $100,000 nontaxable travel account, and $19,000 for entertainment. Trump has said he does not want to take a salary.

  • I don't know if that site was current or not.  My point is that most pro athletes or movie stars make more than our president's salary.

The crazy machine of money and power is fed by all of us who buy into it.  Living in commercial America, as we all do, is part of the price we pay.  Some people thrive on the power of people and some on kicking a ball/throwing a ball.
In a nutshell, it is all wicked.  We do have a choice.  We could all get off the grid, find a plot of land that is not really desirable to anyone else, work the land, and survive under the stars.  I'm not suggesting that is a good way to go.  I think many of us have past our prime to be able to actually make that work.  I am saying, there is always a choice.

Hi Rosie~ :)  Man, it is roasting here too!  I was at work yesterday and the San Fernando Valley was 113* at 3:30.  Ugh!  According to the weather station in our house,  right now at 7:57, it is already 83*.  Please be careful and stay where it is cool.  Drink water and some juice to keep your electrolytes up.  :)  Have a great COOL day.  See you on another question.  Oh, I need to feed the birds!  Back in a second. :) :) This post was edited by Merlin at August 29, 2017 9:01 AM MDT
