Groupies were associated with Rock Bands years ago. Athletes/Pols have them too. Any profession Groupie-free, Groupieless? Morticians?

I have. Years ago a Chick Fil A (sp?) opened near us in Riverside (when we lived there) and the lines wrapped around the corner. Every day. Also locally a Hobby Lobby opened and there are definitely groupies there. Of course the motivation is political. Both are  Conservative-run establishments and I think Conservatives are very good about supporting there own. Also Papa John's pizza. Another Conservative-run establishment. I wonder why that is? I think you are defining "groupie" differently than most people. 
My definition involves "obsessively " trying to meet someone usually with a sexual motive. Most common with musicians but have heard of "lounge lizards"....
But eating or shopping an establishment would not qualify as a"groupie".

If you obsess on a hunky chef and frequent his restaurant repeatedly. Or go to the gym because of the HOT instructor there who makes all the gals' hearts flutter? Repeatedly. You are a groupie. Do sexual fantasies drive all groupies? Possibly. I am not one so I am NOT intimate with the psyche of the breed. Just like women who frequent clubs where men take off their clothes and wear briefs and the women stuff money in them?  Disgusting. My sister and I attended a bridal shower party once long ago and that's what they had as the "entertainment". We left. Not our cuppa tea. Embarrassing to me and to my sister. Those women are hot for the bodies of strangers. I think they are obsessed because their lives are empty and meaningless so they get their kicks watching men strip and gyrate.
