Hi Rosie~ I do believe we if any of us would like to further our education and enter a field, we read to reach that goal. There are always people who know more than us and thank goodness they share their knowledge. I also read to enter another world that an author chooses to share. Fiction is my favorite. Text books are my close second. Sometimes I read to become not someone else but a more knowledgeable someone than I am right now. :)
Hi sweetie! That makes sense. My favorite literary genre is science fiction. An adjunct to that is Quantum Physics. I have quite a few books on that subject since it goes hand-in-glove with science fiction. A very close second is anything based on history. If we see an historical movie on TCM (Turner Classic Movies) I look it up on the internet to see how close it followed reality. Real-world stories are more meaningful to me. Did you happen to see Schindler's List years ago? At the end of the movie the real survivors who had experienced the horrors depicted in the movie were filmed too. Bringing to life their lives. Amazing feeling that. Some folks write books just for the money and what they offer you is superficial and common sense and ordinary. Once in awhile you will find a book that really was worth the money and time but not too often. There are bandwagon cycles where one person writes a successful diet book and 30 others follow. Copycatting is typical and I guess profitable. If you are satisfied with the return on investment then it was worthwhile for you. Thank you for your reply Merlin and Happy Tuesday! :)
